Position is contingent upon contract award and funding. The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Office of Sustainable Fisheries (OSF), is implementing support activities associated with Executive Order 14276, Restoring American Seafood Competitiveness. This effort is focused on advancing fisheries management actions, reducing regulatory burdens, supporting domestic seafood competitiveness, and accelerating implementation of priority fisheries initiatives across NOAA Fisheries Headquarters, Regional Offices, and the Atlantic Highly Migratory Species Division. This position will support a high-visibility NOAA Fisheries initiative involving fisheries management action development, environmental compliance, technical analysis, and scientific/regulatory writing. The work will involve collaboration with federal fisheries managers, scientists, economists, policy staff, and regional offices nationwide. We are seeking a senior-level Fisheries Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep experience supporting federal fisheries management and environmental compliance efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical writing capabilities, experience navigating complex regulatory frameworks, and the ability to translate scientific and regulatory information into actionable management documents. This individual will serve as a senior technical resource supporting the development, review, and implementation of fisheries management actions under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act and associated environmental compliance requirements. This position is expected to be primarily remote/off-site within the continental United States, with occasional travel for meetings, workshops, or coordination activities as needed.
