This position is open to ALL APPLICANTS. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries is recruiting for a Fish and Wildlife Technician 3 located in Fairbanks, Alaska! We will be hiring two Fish and Wildlife Technician 3s with start date of August 24, 2026, and end date of November 13, 2026. This 3-month permanent seasonal position is responsible for conducting subsistence salmon harvest surveys using electronic devices (iOS) in the Yukon Area from Late August to mid-November each year. You will visit roughly half of 33 communities, from the mouth of the Yukon River and coast (Emmonak, Hooper Bay) to the upper Yukon River area (Venetie, Chalkyitsik, to Fort Yukon). This is a fast-paced tour of 1,200 miles of the Yukon River watershed contacting approximately 700 households. We are looking for applicants who are friendly, open and detail oriented who can handle a high degree of independent decision making and deal with frequent schedule changes, working on weekends, weather delays and diverse lodging and work environments. If travel to communities is not possible, surveys will be conducted via phone and mail from Fairbanks (room and board not provided).
