About The Position

The University of New Mexico, School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Fiscal Services Supervisor to lead its accounting team. This position plays a critical role in overseeing the department’s financial operations and supporting leadership through accurate analysis, reporting, and strategic financial guidance. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience managing federal, state, and non-profit contracts and grants, along with strong supervisory and team leadership skills. The Fiscal Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing departmental financials, analyzing trends, and reporting to department leadership. This role also supervises and trains staff, manages day-to-day accounting operations, and ensures compliance with internal controls and funding requirements. Key responsibilities include researching and resolving budget, procurement, billing, and expenditure issues; maintaining effective internal controls; and participating in a variety of financial and budget meetings with department leaders, sponsors, and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who is highly organized, responsive, and able to manage competing priorities in a complex environment. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently while overseeing the work of others. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • successful completion of at least 15 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting
  • at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
