About The Position

Provides professional accounting support by preparing, reviewing, and maintaining financial records and supporting documentation. This includes preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and accounting workpapers, as well as reviewing financial transactions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established accounting procedures. The role also involves researching and resolving routine accounting discrepancies. Additionally, the position provides financial reporting support by compiling and analyzing financial information for various reports, assisting with month-end and year-end accounting activities, and preparing necessary documentation. Fiscal operations support includes monitoring revenues, expenditures, budgets, grants, and cash activity, maintaining organized accounting records, and assisting with the preparation of financial data for management decision-making. The role also supports compliance and customer service by assisting with internal and external audit requests, communicating with stakeholders to clarify financial information, and applying established accounting policies and procedures. Continuous improvement is encouraged through learning state accounting systems and policies, and assisting with special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or Associate’s degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up.
  • Ability to interpret and apply accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Teams, and Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Management, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year professional experience maintaining financial records or preparing accounting reports.
  • Minimum 1 year professional experience using accounting or enterprise financial systems.
  • Minimum 1 year professional experience interpreting and applying accounting policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Communicating with Fiscal staff, program personnel, and other stakeholders to obtain or clarify financial information.
  • Applying established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to assigned work.
  • Learning state accounting systems, policies, and financial processes.
  • Assisting with special projects, process improvements, and other related duties as assigned.
