About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to assist individuals and/or their families with implementing their self-direction budgets by attending meetings and ensuring payments are made according to everyone's budget. As employer of record, this role ensures quality and Medicaid Compliance standards are met according to regulations. The role involves being a direct contact for the person supported and manager of service, serving as a member of their Circle of Support (COS) as assigned per caseload. It also includes providing ongoing training and support to persons supported and COS to gain and maintain the skills necessary to manage self-directed services. Participation in annual and/or semi-annual Life Plan meetings is required, either in person or virtually. The position requires management of compliance-related documents, ensuring timely and accurate completion of plans for individuals receiving services per OPWDD and other regulatory requirements, including annual forms, staff action plans, Life Plans, budgets, and supporting documentation. Maintaining documentation standards in electronic health records systems and performing duties associated with the agency’s employer of record responsibilities are key. This includes assisting individuals with managing their staff's job assignments, wage/status, and onboarding. Quarterly check-in calls are required to ensure satisfaction with services. The role involves monitoring budget activity to ensure expenses are within the Personal Resource Account (PRA) and meet all OPWDD regulations. Staying compliant with all regulations and guidance associated with self-directed services is essential, including quarterly Webex, ADMs, and the SD Guide for Providers. Reporting any incidents or compliance concerns to appropriate personnel and consulting with Program Managers/Supervisors to ensure consistency of services are also part of the role. Other duties assigned by the Self-Direction Supervisor and/or designee within the scope of practice will be performed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a related field and two years’ experience in the human service field OR a 2-year degree in a related field and 4 years’ experience in the human service field OR High School Diploma and 5 years’ experience in the human service field.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft programs to include Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License.
  • A vehicle is required for business travel.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all persons supported and a diverse employee population of various levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to use poise, tact, maturity and diplomacy during difficult and/or stressful situations to effectively collaborate and resolve issues.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, and customer requests, while meeting deadlines.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion concerning all business-related matters, including but not limited to board/vendors/donors’ names, investigations, finance, operations, and employee relations matters.
  • Must be willing to complete specific company required trainings as mandated by our governing agency, OPWDD, at time of hire and annually thereafter.
  • Must adhere to all departmental /company policies & procedures at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain documentation standards in electronic health records systems.
  • Perform duties associated with the agency’s employer of record responsibilities, including assisting individuals with managing their staffs job assignment, wage/status, and onboarding.
  • Perform at minimum, quarterly check-in calls to ensure satisfaction with services.
