About The Position

Gateway supports the Culinary Apprenticeship Program, providing employees with the opportunity to attain their Red Seal Journeyperson Trade Certification through a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training. This will also help support the opportunity for culinary team members to be promoted to First Cook and Chef de Partie. Committing to an apprenticeship program is a huge step, making it critical that passionate, dedicated and motivated members take on this role as part of the program.

Requirements

  • Internal candidates possess at least 12 months experience in the Culinary department
  • Grade 12 or ministry approved equivalent
  • Minimum of one-year Culinary experience
  • Meets the criteria established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Apprenticeship and Adjustment.
  • A genuine desire to grow in the culinary profession.
  • A desire to comply with the duties of workers or supervisors, Health and Safety policies, procedures and protocols.
  • A positive health and safety attitude to ensure a safe entertainment destination for patrons and co-workers.

Nice To Haves

  • French language skills (verbal and written) are an asset

  • To enhance the on-the-job learning, the Executive Chef ensures Apprentices are provided with additional opportunities, including gala events, seminars, demonstrations and courses.
