About The Position

The Finished Products First Line Leader is responsible for the management, coordination, and direction of a crew in the Finished Products department. This role involves leading and managing safety, ensuring all safety and housekeeping goals are accomplished, supporting EHS coordinators and Safety Captains, driving safety with the crew, and assisting in conducting incident investigations, safety observations, and inspections. The leader is also responsible for ensuring all team members understand expectations, conducting one-to-ones, and holding members accountable. They will manage daily shift operations with a focus on continuous improvement, support routine and annual outages, and meet or exceed production and quality goals. Effective communication with all operating departments and mill management is crucial, as is timely and accurate information dissemination. The role requires good listening and communication skills, and participation in all FLL meetings.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of the Finished Products Area and a thorough knowledge of all Finished Products Department processes.
  • Key understandings of the critical parameters that impact safety, environmental, costs, quality, and customers.
  • Clear ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Understanding of team concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Established skill to execute work based on standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce accountability.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience on the paper machine at the Group II – Operator level or higher OR an engineering degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a member in good standing to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage safety, ensuring that all safety and housekeeping goals are accomplished.

  • Responsible for making sure that all members understand what is expected of them, conducting one-to-ones, and holding members accountable for those expectations.
  • Manage daily shift operations with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Support routine and annual outages and responsible for meeting and exceeding established production and quality goals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively interact with all operating departments and all levels of mill management and ensure the timely and accurate communication of information to and from all levels.
  • Demonstrate good listening and communication skills.
