About The Position

This role involves performing dimensional inspections on engineering samples, in-process production parts, and PPAP or validation samples. The inspector will conduct full First Article Layout (FAI) inspections according to AS9102 format and QMS procedures, utilizing a Micro-Vu vision system with a high degree of accuracy. Key responsibilities include timely entry of inspection data into department logs, creating in-process inspection plans based on customer requirements and drawings, and providing support for floor and final inspections as needed. The position also requires supporting production operators with quality questions, ensuring the accuracy of QA documentation, and assisting with customer-specified Statistical Process Control (SPC).

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a Quality Assurance or inspection role in a manufacturing environment.
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Good understanding of basic mathematics.
• Experienced in good manufacturing practices and quality initiatives and programs.
• Ability to successfully work within a team-oriented environment.
• Strong working knowledge of injection molding processes.
• Physically capable of frequently lifting boxes up to 30 lbs.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain a consistent pace in a fast-moving production environment.
• Experience with computers and computer software such as Microsoft Office or inspection related software.
• Experience with engineering part drawings related to part geometry, dimensions & tolerances, drawing views, and interpretation of requirements.
• Proficient use of hand-held measuring instruments.
• Experience with micrometers, height gauges, calipers, indicators, and optical comparator.
• Knowledge and interpretation skills regarding the principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.
• Working knowledge of inspecting techniques and testing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspections on engineering samples.
• Conduct in-process production dimensional inspections using the Micro-Vu.
• Perform dimensional inspections on PPAP or validation samples.
• Complete full First Article Layout (FAI) inspections in accordance with AS9102 format and QMS procedures.
• Utilize Micro-Vu for FAI layout inspections with high accuracy.
• Enter all FAI and measuring activity into the department log.
• Create in-process inspection plans based on customer criteria and QMS procedures.
• Provide backup support for floor in-process inspection.
• Provide backup support for final inspection.
• Support production machine operators and team members with product quality questions.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of all associated QA documentation.
• Provide support for customer-specified SPC as required.
