The Firmware Engineer designs, develops, and tests embedded software and platforms that control power-generation-related systems. The work requires understanding the characteristics of the physical device being controlled, its real-time functions, and the logic and software needed to deliver those functions. The role supports products and services across various P&Ls and may involve architecting, designing, or programming a module, component, feature, feature area, or an entire embedded software product. Areas of work may include networks, operating systems, cybersecurity, databases, and applications. This early-career role broadens technical knowledge while executing established policies and strategies. It applies an understanding of business drivers and how the team's work integrates with other teams. The engineer may make decisions within a defined framework, resolve technical issues using established procedures, and consult senior team members when issues fall outside defined parameters. The role requires interpersonal skills, explaining technical information to others, and may include leading a junior team. Customer-facing work may involve developing customer relationships and serving as an interface between the customer and GE Vernova. The position must be performed on-site in Roanoke. Relocation assistance is available for U.S.-based candidates. The stated U.S. pay range is $80,000 to $120,000, with geographic differentials in certain areas and discretionary annual bonus eligibility.
