  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience with embedded C/C++ or a comparable programming language for embedded systems.
  • Working knowledge of closed-loop control theory.
  • Experience with one or more of DevOps, CI/CD, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), or unit testing.
  • Experience with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer reviews.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, independent judgment, and ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated, organized, efficient, process-oriented, and strong work ethic.
  • Exceptional verbal and writing skills.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally.

Nice To Haves

  • Bare-metal C/C++ programming experience outside an OS/RTOS.
  • Familiarity with model-based control development, code generation, and automated testing using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Working knowledge of vector control, pulse width modulation, control-loop tuning, and stability analysis.
  • Familiarity with three-phase motor control and/or power control applications.
  • Ability to read power electronics schematics and component data sheets.
  • Experience with CAD tools, particularly tools relevant to electrical or PCB design.

Responsibilities

  • Independently design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot embedded systems, including functions and libraries for real-time motor control applications.
  • Design, model, simulate, and implement advanced control algorithms independently and under senior engineers’ supervision.
  • Develop, analyze, maintain, and document control system architecture.
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures for firmware applications and subsystems.
  • Use laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and data acquisition systems.
  • Conduct experiments and simulations, analyze data, and draw concise, logical conclusions.
  • Track projects against schedules and communicate status updates to other teams and mid-level management.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching to junior engineers while role-modeling Milwaukee Tool’s culture.
  • Work with component suppliers and manufacturers on component selection for existing projects and provide input into future product needs.
  • Schedule and facilitate technical meetings, develop agendas, and document meetings and formal presentations.
  • Learn and apply Milwaukee Tool’s development and manufacturing processes to support efficient mass production of power tools.
  • Design and qualify solutions to applicable regulatory standards, including UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI.
  • Collaborate and build trusting relationships with engineers and cross-functional teams locally and globally.
  • Participate in the new product development process and support deliverables at key milestones.
