We are currently seeking a Firefighter for our onsite Fire Department at our site in Charleston, TN.

Requirements

  • Minimum H.S. diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • 5 years of experience as a professional firefighter
  • Possession of a valid Fire Fighter I & II certificate required
  • Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license required
  • Possession of an appropriate, valid C.P.R. certificate required
  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technician License required
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with fellow Team Members
  • Ability to use the computer to keep simple records and prepare reports
  • Possess a strong mechanical aptitude and be skilled in operation of heavy emergency equipment
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor
  • Possess safety awareness
  • Have good judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent unrestricted basis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform firefighting and emergency medical response activities to protect life and property.
  • Respond to a variety of fire, emergency, and non-emergency calls for service.
  • Provide technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
  • Promote fire safety and enforce fire safety standards throughout the plant.
  • Respond immediately and safely to emergency calls and requests for assistance.
  • Perform emergency medical services in relation to the individual’s level of licensure and Wacker medical protocols.
  • Attend emergency incidents including fires, accidents, floods, spillages of dangerous substances, etc.
  • Perform all phases of fire suppression work, ventilation, overhaul, salvage and clean-up activities at incident scene.
  • Conduct search and rescue as a member of a team.
  • Safeguard their own and other people’s personal safety at all times.
  • Assist in the performance of periodic Uniform Fire Code inspections of industrial and commercial businesses and places of assembly.
  • Assist in the enforcement of the fire prevention codes by following through and documenting violations in need of corrective action.
  • Operate and drive a fire department vehicle in compliance with all applicable state and local laws, departmental rules, and regulations.
  • Become familiar with roads and buildings around the plant in order to respond to emergency calls with the utmost speed and efficiency.
  • Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and testing of portable and fixed fire suppression and extinguishing systems and equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain department equipment and apparatus.
  • Prepare statistical and analytical reports as required.
  • Participate in training, continuing education, drills and physical training.
  • Maintain the level of physical fitness necessary to carry out all the duties of a firefighter.
