The City of Jefferson is currently accepting applications for Firefighter for a hiring roster for our Fire Department. We are looking for the best and brightest career-oriented individuals. This position is responsible for the protection of life and property by controlling and extinguishing fires, rescuing injured and trapped persons, rendering medical care, mitigating hazardous materials, and assisting other departments as needed. Although in this position, firefighting and rescue work are the most difficult and responsible areas of activity, a major portion of time is spent training, maintaining facilities and equipment, inspecting businesses and educating the public. The starting annual compensation for firefighters is $51,465.80 (this amount includes guaranteed holiday pay for 11 holidays), ensuring a rewarding package for your dedication and service. The testing process includes a written examination and a physical agility test. Applicants may be exempt from the written examination by submitting a valid Firefighter I/II certification from the State of Missouri. Similarly, those with a CPAT certificate dated within one year of their application submission may be exempt from the physical agility test. Applicants must submit certificates as an attachment to the employment application.
