The Napa Fire Department's mission is to serve the community from five fire stations, covering 18 square miles in Napa Valley wine country. Each station is equipped with an Advanced Life Support (Paramedic) response unit, and Fire Station One also houses an ALS Ladder Truck Company for specialized operations. The department has 67 operations staff, 6 fire prevention staff, and 4 full-time administration staff. They respond to over 12,000 incidents annually, with 70% being medical in nature, and participate in County HAZMAT and Rescue Teams. Firefighter/Paramedics are responsible for responding to and preventing incidents, providing immediate assistance, and protecting citizens and property. Their duties include responding to alarms and emergencies, providing patient care, operating and maintaining equipment and stations, conducting safety inspections, teaching fire safety, and performing support assignments. The position also involves upcoming salary increases: 2.0% effective July 2027, 2.5% effective July 2028, 2.5% effective July 2029, and 2.5% effective July 2030.
