About The Position

The Town of Hopkinton is seeking dedicated Firefighter/Paramedic professionals to join their public safety department. This role involves both fire suppression and emergency medical care responsibilities, including extrication, rescue, fire suppression, hazard control, and administering emergency medical care. The position requires the ability to interact with patients, assess and treat medical emergencies, and document findings. Work is often performed under stressful conditions with potential exposure to contagious diseases, chemical hazards, and violence. Hopkinton offers a professional, progressive, and innovative public safety department providing state-of-the-art fire suppression and exceptional paramedic ambulance services.

Requirements

  • Valid CPR card
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license
  • Graduation from an accredited FF I/II program preferred
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations governing the operation of the fire department.
  • Knowledge of State Dept. of Office of Emergency Medical Services treatment protocols.
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and local laws relevant to the activities of the fire department.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics as applied to firefighting, building construction, related electrical codes, and locations of hazardous occupancies in the town.
  • Knowledge of the operation of all fire apparatus, ambulance, and rescue equipment.
  • Working knowledge of water main locations, size, and operation as applied to firefighting activities.
  • Ability and strength to perform prolonged and arduous work under adverse conditions.
  • Ability to react quickly and remain calm under duress and strain.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Massachusetts EMT-Paramedic certification preferred
  • Valid Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
  • Valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude preferred

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • Hiring Salary: $1,342.17 - $1,656.55/week, depending on qualifications, shift assignment and in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
