Under direct supervision, the Firefighter EMT trains for and participates in emergency and hazardous duties involving fire suppression and emergency operations at an industrial facility. While firefighting and rescue work are among the most difficult and responsible activities, much of the role involves drills, studying methods and techniques, and routine care and maintenance of customer property and equipment. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to the Company’s and Client’s industrial drug and alcohol testing policies, including pre-employment, post-accident, random, reasonable-suspicion, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing. The work generally follows a shift schedule of 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off duty. Travel is usually limited to one trip per year for live-fire burns, lasting 2–5 days. The employee works in environments with noise ranging from moderate to very loud, from open areas to cramped confined spaces, and may work at heights or in confined spaces within plant premises. The role may also involve heavy traffic while responding to emergency calls or performing extrications.
