About The Position

Prince George County Fire and EMS is seeking applicants for the position of Fire Medic. This role involves responding to emergency calls, providing basic or advanced life support, engaging in active fire suppression, and preparing and maintaining detailed records. The starting salary depends on qualifications and years of service, with a Fire Fighter EMT starting at $57,347 and a Fire Fighter Paramedic starting at $63,224.

Requirements

  • Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Must possess and maintain CPR
  • Must possess and maintain NIMS
  • Must possess and maintain ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800
  • Must possess and maintain EVOC 1-3
  • Must possess and maintain EMT-Basic (ALS preferred)
  • Must possess and maintain State Certified Firefighter II
  • Must possess and maintain Haz-Mat Operations (DPO and Instructor I preferred)
  • Must meet and maintain all departmental requirements for the position
  • In-depth knowledge of firefighting techniques
  • In-depth knowledge of emergency medical procedures
  • In-depth knowledge of rescue operations
  • Ability to rapidly assess emergency situations
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with other emergency services
  • Proficiency in operating a variety of fire suppression and medical equipment

  • Ability to keep simple records and prepare reports
  • Possession of mechanical aptitude

  • Pre-employment physical/drug testing
  • Comprehensive criminal check to include fingerprinting
  • Applicants will be required to submit a current DMV record at the applicant's expense
