About The Position

The Bryan County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for a Full-Time Firefighter/EMT Recruit position within the Department of Fire and Rescue. This role involves comprehensive training in both firefighting and emergency medical services. Upon successful completion of recruit school and EMT training, the estimated salary is $53,442.

Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
Must be able to pass a GBI/FBI background check.
Must pass a NFPA 1582 medical exam prior to hire.

Responsibilities

Participate in approximately 12 weeks of Fire Recruit school, including daily physical fitness training, classroom instruction, and hands-on training in a field environment.
Demonstrate firefighting techniques learned in the classroom on the fire training ground.
Undergo testing for NPQ Firefighter I, II and NPQ Hazardous Material Awareness and Operations level certifications.
Complete approximately 9 weeks of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Recruit School, working alongside professional emergency responders.
Participate in clinical rotations on the ambulance to gain real-life experience and practice practical skills.
Attend lectures and practical exercises during the typical 8-hour classroom day for EMT training.
Pass all major testing during basic EMT training, including weekly tests and a BCFR Final Exam.
Pass the National Registry of EMT's written test for the EMT level upon successful completion of the BCFR final exam and practical.
Pass a GBI/FBI background check.
Pass a NFPA 1582 medical exam prior to hire.
Complete motor vehicle check, background check, drug screening, and NFPA 1582 medical exams as part of the pre-employment process.
Verify employment eligibility using the federal work authorization program (E-Verify) after completing the Employment Eligibility Verification Form (Form I-9).
