About The Position

This full-time, permanent, safety-sensitive position is in the Fire Department and may require shift work. The role involves providing emergency medical services at the highest level of certification, operating advanced life support or basic life support medical units and/or other emergency firefighting and rescue equipment. Responsibilities also include participating in drills and training exercises, performing fire prevention inspections, conducting public education safety presentations, and engaging in fire suppression activities. The proposed budget includes an increase to the pay range: $71,225 - $133,766.

Requirements

Graduation from High School and/or G.E.D.
Certification at hire as a Nationally Registered Paramedic
Licensed as a Paramedic by the Maryland State EMS Board
Valid Commercial Class B Motor Vehicle Operator's License
Must be at least 18 years of age prior to the start date of the academy
Active in the National Paramedic Registry and obtain the Maryland License within six (6) months of hire
Valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator’s license to apply
Successful completion of the Anne Arundel County Fire Training Academy program (for alternative qualification path)
One year as a Firefighter II in the classified service of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department (for alternative qualification path)
Valid Picture ID must be presented at the time of the written exam
