Ingalls firefighters work a 24/48 hour firefighter schedule. They will respond to medical, fire, hazmat and rescue emergencies as a team member or leader and perform appropriate functions as directed or needed. Must be able to perform at great height and in confined spaces with IDLH conditions. Will operate and inspect emergency response equipment and inspect and outfit facility and shipboard fire protection equipment. Will provide industrial medical care and respirator fit testing as needed. Is expected to work additional overtime as needed to maintain proper manning levels and to support special assignments. Must pass a pre hire medical physical and must pass an annual fire fighter medical physical. To prepare for the unexpected and future growth, firefighters will cross train to assist the safety, medical and environmental departments. Will participate in required training to maintain current certifications or to improve capabilities. Required training consists of basic first aid training within 90 days of starting position. If not already an EMT, you must obtain a National Registry EMT certification within 18 months of start date in order to retain the Firefighter position. Successfully complete any fire, rescue, hazmat and inspection training that is provided.
