The City of Sandy Springs Fire Department is hiring certified Firefighter/Paramedics for full-time positions working a 48/96-hour shift. The Sandy Springs Fire Department is a small, busy department with five stations comprised of 8 companies (2 aerials, one tower ladder, one heavy squad, and four engines). We are staffed with full-time firefighter/EMTS and firefighter paramedics. Our three shifts are organized within a traditional rank structure with a Battalion Chief overseeing the work of Captains, Lieutenants, Fire Apparatus Engineers, and Firefighters. We have an excellent pay and benefits package! The purpose of this classification is to perform technical and specialized work functions associated with preparing for and responding to fire, rescue, and disaster emergency calls, with protecting life and property, with supporting fire safety, prevention and equipment maintenance activities, and with providing emergency medical treatment, medical transportation, and/or assistance to Firefighter/Paramedics. Under the direction of a Fire Captain/Lieutenant, the Firefighter I is responsible for conducting fire department emergency and non-emergency activities during an assigned shift; engages in emergency scene activities including basic firefighting and emergency medical care; directs and performs a variety of staff support functions; and performs related work as assigned.
