Firearms Specialist - Putnam, CT
About The Position
The Firearms Specialist will be responsible for greeting customers, assisting with customer service inquiries, pricing merchandise, stocking shelves, and receiving and organizing freight. This role also involves assisting with cycle counts and ensuring the store is prepared for audits. A key part of this position is to train other staff on various firearms-related regulations and procedures, including A&D log requirements, filing of 4473 forms, understanding ARs and multiple handgun sales, proper correction of 4473 forms, acceptable forms of identification, refusal of sales, and identifying and handling "Straw Sales".
Requirements
- Good understanding of A&D log requirements and best practices.
- Knowledge of filing of denied and no transfer 4473’s.
- Knowledge of standardized filing of completed 4473’s.
- Understanding of what an AR is and how a multiple sale is recorded.
- Knowledge of multiple handgun sales and proper recording.
- Understanding of how to properly make corrections on a 4473 by employees and customers.
- Knowledge of acceptable forms of identification customers can use.
- Understanding of when a sale should be refused.
- Knowledge of what constitutes a “Straw Sale” and how to complete it.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers as they shop in the retail store.
