About The Position

Rural King is seeking a Firearms Sales Associate to provide knowledgeable customer service while assisting with firearms, ammunition, accessories, and related products. The role requires firearms product knowledge, sales and customer service skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of applicable firearms laws and regulations.

The associate helps customers identify products that fit their needs, preferences, and budget; provides product information and recommendations; and accurately processes sales, special orders, returns, payments, and required documentation. The role also supports promotions, upselling, cross-selling, the RK Firearms Plus Protection Plan, and loyalty program awareness.

The associate follows firearms laws, regulations, company procedures, and required compliance training; maintains accurate records and customer confidentiality; and promotes safe and responsible practices. Additional duties include maintaining firearms displays and sales-floor presentation, supporting inventory accuracy, staying current on products and training, participating in cross-training, and performing other duties as assigned. The position includes physical activity such as standing and walking for extended periods, lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds, and using ladders and pallet jacks. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of firearms, ammunition, accessories, safety practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Strong customer service, communication, and active listening skills.
• Ability to accurately complete transactions, documentation, and other detail-oriented tasks.
• Ability to use POS systems, computers, and retail technology.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and commitment to safety.
• Ability to complete required firearms compliance training.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to use ladders and pallet jacks.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and associates.
• Close visual awareness for product and transaction-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and identify their needs, preferences, and budget.

• Follow all federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to firearms sales and transfers.
• Follow the Firearms SOP and complete required compliance training.
• Maintain accurate records and protect confidential customer information.
• Promote safe and responsible practices and escalate compliance concerns to leadership.
• Maintain clean, organized, accurately priced, and visually appealing firearms displays.
• Support inventory accuracy, signage, zoning, and sales-floor presentation.
• Stay current on firearms products, industry developments, and company training.
• Participate in cross-training and perform other duties as assigned.
