About The Position

A Fire Watch is a trained individual responsible for monitoring work areas where hot work or other activities increase the risk of fire. Their role is to protect personnel and property by identifying fire hazards, ensuring fire prevention measures are in place, and responding to emergencies if needed. Fire Watch personnel must be trained, coordinate with all workers involved, and verify that all Hot Work Permit requirements are met before work begins. Work cannot start until the Fire Watch Team is in place and all safety requirements have been satisfied.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a background and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol areas of work.
  • Understand safety procedures and how to implement them.
  • Contact and inform emergency personnel as soon as any issues arise.
  • Report and map any signs of smoke or fire.
  • Maintain the Fire Watch Logs.
  • Identify and mitigate any potential issues that may cause or contribute to a fire.
