About The Position

This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs on fire sprinkler systems and related equipment throughout the District. The Fire Sprinkler Technician will ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations, and maintain accurate records of all work performed. This role is crucial for maintaining the safety and operational integrity of the District's facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Valid Nevada State Fire Marshal certification as a Fire Sprinkler Technician (Level II) or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 25, NFPA 13, and other relevant fire codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, testing equipment, and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET certification in Fire Protection Engineering Technology.
  • Experience with electronic inspection reporting software.
  • Additional certifications related to fire protection systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.
  • Identify and repair defects or malfunctions in fire sprinkler systems and related components.
  • Test fire pumps, control valves, and other associated equipment.
  • Ensure all work complies with NFPA standards, local building codes, and other relevant regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, maintenance, and repairs, including documentation of any deficiencies found.
  • Respond to emergency calls for sprinkler system issues.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff and contractors as needed.
  • Operate and maintain District vehicles and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Stay current with advancements in fire protection technology and relevant codes and standards.
