About The Position

Under general supervision, installs, inspects, tests, maintains, and repairs fire sprinkler systems and related fire protection equipment; performs related work as required. This position is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of fire sprinkler systems throughout the District's facilities. The work involves performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs to maintain compliance with fire codes and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in fire sprinkler system installation and maintenance, OR a minimum of four (4) years of verifiable journey-level experience in the installation, inspection, testing, and repair of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Valid Nevada State Fire Marshal certification as a Fire Sprinkler System Inspector (Level I or higher).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 25 (Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems) and other relevant codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools and equipment related to fire sprinkler systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations and work flexible hours as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET certification (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) in Fire Protection Engineering Technology.
  • Experience with fire alarm systems.
  • Experience working in a school district or public sector environment.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, inspects, tests, maintains, and repairs fire sprinkler systems, including piping, valves, heads, alarms, and control panels.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on fire sprinkler systems to ensure proper functioning.
  • Responds to emergency calls for fire sprinkler system malfunctions and performs necessary repairs.
  • Tests fire pumps, standpipes, and other fire protection equipment.
  • Maintains accurate records of all inspections, tests, maintenance, and repairs performed.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable fire codes, building codes, and District policies.
  • Operates a variety of hand and power tools and equipment used in the installation and repair of sprinkler systems.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Works collaboratively with other maintenance staff and school personnel.
  • Participates in on-call rotation for emergency response outside of regular work hours.
