About The Position

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Service Technician to join their team. This role involves receiving service calls, diagnosing and repairing sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential applications. The technician will work on various types of systems including wet (steel, copper and CPVC), dry, pre-action, deluge, and fire pumps. The position requires strong customer service skills, the ability to work independently, and adherence to safety guidelines. This role also includes an on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of documented experience in Fire Sprinkler industry performing service and repair to Sprinkler and Suppression systems
  • Have computer/phone skills - Word, Excel, Outlook and mobile apps and functions
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements
  • Overnight travel may be required
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements
  • Must be able to follow, read and understand all safety requirement of the company and the customer
  • This role does require an on-call rotation

Nice To Haves

  • NICET certification is a plus
  • Backflow certification is a plus
  • Fire pump experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Receive service calls from Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions.
  • Contact customer representative and ascertain equipment/systems problems.
  • Perform service and repairs on sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial and residential applications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications software/systems, programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
  • Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices and bulletins, modification notices, etc. in order to diagnose and repair equipment.
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Perform physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Follow, read and understand all safety requirements of the company and the customer.
  • Be able to perform service work on all water-based fire protection systems.
