About The Position

The Fire Sprinkler Helper is a trainee learning the mechanics of sprinkler system installation. The role may include cleaning up job sites, unloading, staging, and distributing materials, and cutting and threading pipe. Under the close guidance of a Sprinkler Fitter, the Helper may install and test fire sprinkler systems and receives direction on day-to-day tasks. Continued employment is contingent on successfully obtaining applicable Oklahoma state licensing. The Helper also helps maintain a clean, organized vehicle and a safe environment for themselves, coworkers, and customers. A qualified trainee is responsible and reliable.

Requirements

• Ability to follow verbal work instructions and directions.
• Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with moderate supervision.
• Initiative to learn trade skills.
• Ability to learn applicable fire sprinkler installation, inspection, and servicing codes.
• Ability to read labels, signage, and directions and perform basic mathematical computations.
• General mechanical background.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
• Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
• Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
• Successfully obtain applicable Oklahoma state licensing to continue employment.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Fitter to complete tasks necessary to finish job-site work in a timely and effective manner.
• Learn applicable fire protection codes and obtain applicable state licensing.
• Protect and maintain company equipment.
• Maintain the assigned vehicle according to company procedures and keep it clean and organized.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the Fitter and/or the Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Manager.
• Work in scissor lifts, boom lifts, and on ladders as necessary.
• Assist with job-site cleanup, unloading, staging, and distributing materials.
• Cut and thread pipe, and install and test fire sprinkler systems under close guidance.
