About The Position

The Fire Sprinkler Helper is a trainee learning the mechanics of sprinkler system installation. The position may involve site cleanup, unloading, staging, and distributing materials to employees at a job site, as well as cutting and threading pipe. Under the close guidance of a Sprinkler Fitter, the Helper may install and test fire sprinkler systems. The Sprinkler Fitter provides direction for day-to-day tasks. Continued employment is contingent on successfully obtaining applicable state licensing. The Helper also helps maintain a clean, organized vehicle and a safe environment for themselves, coworkers, and customers.

Requirements

• Ability to follow verbal work instructions and directions.
• Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with moderate supervision.
• Initiative to learn trade skills.
• Ability to learn applicable installation, inspection, and servicing codes.
• Ability to perform physical activities described in the accompanying physical requirements checklist.
• Ability to read labels, signage, and directions, and perform basic math computations.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
• Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Fitter to complete tasks at job sites in a timely and effective manner.
• Learn applicable fire protection codes and obtain applicable state licensing.
• Protect and maintain company equipment.
• Keep the vehicle clean and organized in accordance with company procedures.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the Fitter and/or the Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Manager.
• Assist with site cleanup, unloading, staging, and distributing work materials.
• Cut and thread pipe.
• May install and test fire sprinkler systems under close guidance from a Sprinkler Fitter.
• Help ensure a safe environment for themselves, coworkers, and customers.
