Fire Sprinkler Helper
About The Position
This trainee position involves learning the mechanics of fire sprinkler system installation. Duties may include site cleanup; unloading, staging, and distributing materials; and cutting and threading pipe. The Helper may install and test fire sprinkler systems under the close guidance of a Sprinkler Fitter and receives day-to-day direction from the Fitter. Continued employment depends on successfully obtaining applicable Oklahoma state licensing. The Helper also assists in keeping the company vehicle clean and organized and helps ensure a safe environment for themselves, coworkers, and customers. A qualified trainee is responsible and reliable.
Requirements
- Ability to follow verbal work instructions and directions.
- Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with moderate supervision.
- Initiative to learn trade skills.
- Ability to learn applicable fire sprinkler installation, inspection, and servicing codes.
- Ability to read labels, signage, and directions, and perform basic mathematical computations.
- General mechanical background.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
- Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
- Responsible and reliable.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Fitter on tasks needed to complete work at a job site in a timely and effective manner.
- Learn applicable fire protection codes and obtain applicable state licensing.
- Protect and maintain company equipment.
- Maintain the vehicle in accordance with company procedures and keep it clean and organized.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Fitter and/or the Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Manager.
- Work in scissor lifts, boom lifts, and on ladders as necessary.
- Assist with site cleanup, unloading, staging, and distributing work materials.
- Cut and thread pipe.
- Install and test fire sprinkler systems under the close guidance of a Sprinkler Fitter.
