About The Position

Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers is looking for experienced Fire Sprinkler Inspectors in our Concord branch to work in the surrounding areas. This position reports to the Inspections Manager and is responsible for testing and inspecting installed fire sprinkler and alarm systems to determine the adequacy of the system design and to verify all equipment is functioning properly. The Inspector will direct the activities of their assigned Apprentice and train him/her on the proper way to inspect fire sprinkler and alarm systems. He/she develops a strong relationship with the customer to exceed all their expectations and ensure a quality, timely inspection is achieved.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Fire Sprinkler and Fire Alarms Inspections experience
  • The ability to supervise each project and all Apprentices working on the job site.
  • Travel within the local community is required.
  • Must possess the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • The ideal candidate will be organized, professional, and a good communicator.
  • Must be able to wear proper protective equipment as required on all job sites.
  • Working outside on job sites for long hours in all seasons including summer months.
  • Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and pre-employment background check screening including 10 years of employment verification is required to be hired at Wayne Automatic.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET II Certification or Equivalent
  • Construction experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and tests installed fire sprinkler and alarm systems to determine the adequacy of the system design and to verify all equipment is functioning properly.
  • Visually inspects the entire building to identify corroded heads or other hazards, operates valves to ensure they open and shut, makes sure bells ring, flushes system, identifies obstructions, etc.
  • Completes required inspection reports including deficiencies on the condition of installed fire sprinkler and alarm systems and forwards reports to required parties.
  • Schedules inspections, service, pump tests, walk-throughs, etc.
  • If qualified, may perform service work such as replacing valves, gauges, flow switches, tamper switches, etc.
  • Communicate with customers to schedule inspections and verify proper clothing to be worn on the site.
  • Train Apprentices to ensure they are ready for promotion.
  • Ensure all work and safety rules are followed.
  • Keep company vehicle clean and serviced.
  • Keep work areas clean, safe, and orderly at all times.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings at the local branch.
