Fire Sprinkler Inspector
About The Position
The Fire Sprinkler Inspector is responsible for testing and inspecting fire sprinkler systems, identifying deficiencies, troubleshooting existing conditions, interpreting blueprints and manuals consistent with experience, and preparing detailed reports on inspection findings. The position performs routine inspection, testing, servicing, installation, and preventive maintenance of water-based and sprinkler systems. It also involves coordinating identified deficiencies with the service work needed to correct them and communicating job status, delays, and requirements to the Service Manager and/or Inspections Coordinator so work is delivered within the proposed scope.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two to three years of experience inspecting various types of fire sprinkler systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of NFPA codes and standards for inspection, testing, and installation.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
- Pre-employment drug screen.
- Clean motor vehicle record.
Nice To Haves
- NICET II or III certification.
- Backflow certification.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, testing, servicing, installation, and preventive maintenance of water-based systems and/or sprinkler systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and fire codes.
- Test systems for leaks using air and liquid pressure equipment.
- Complete service documentation detailing findings as needed.
- Coordinate inspection deficiencies with the service required to correct them.
- Communicate inspection or project delays, requirements, and job status to the Service Manager and/or Inspections Coordinator.
- Write detailed reports regarding inspection deficiencies.
