About The Position

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced Fire Service Technician to join their team. This role involves servicing and repairing electronic fire alarm systems and other related building products at customer sites. The technician will diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform repairs, and ensure customer satisfaction through excellent service and communication. The position requires participation in an on-call rotation and may involve training or mentoring other team members. The goal is to provide the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related issues, acting as a trusted advisor to customers.

Requirements

  • 3 plus years’ experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound and communications systems.
  • Must be able to interpret blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
  • A good working knowledge of computers is necessary.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Retain any licenses that are required by National, State and Local codes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience CCTV and IT and IP networks a plus.
  • Technical training preferred.
  • NICET II preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive service calls and ascertain equipment/systems problems.
  • Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products at customer sites.
  • Follow troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals for repairs.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and install various manufacturers’ Fire & Life Safety systems, including SimplexGrinnell.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittments, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers.
  • Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices.
  • Obtain customer signature upon completed service call assignment.
  • Participate in a scheduled On-call rotation.
  • Help to train or mentor others on the service team.
  • Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service related items.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
