The Metropolitan Museum of Art is seeking a Fire Safety Officer to ensure fire protection and the safety of Museum visitors, personnel, and art collections from fire hazards. This role involves making inspections of auxiliary protection equipment, conducting daily fire safety inspections of the building, and instructing personnel on the use of fire extinguishers and alarm systems. The Fire Safety Officer will supervise all welding and burning operations, conduct fire drills, and ensure compliance with NYC fire codes and regulations regarding hazardous materials. They will also respond to emergency calls, provide first aid, advise Security Management on fire safety matters, and liaise with the NYC Fire Department and inspectors. This position plays a key role in identifying and mitigating safety hazards, assisting in the development of evacuation plans, and maintaining fire safety equipment.
