Work follows conventional engineering practice and may include complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitable conventional materials, or difficult coordination requirements. Uses Standard Application Programs (SAPs) and may plan, coordinate, or prepare equipment and work specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and award recommendations. Coordinates engineering work across specialty and other engineering groups, with clients, suppliers, and contractors, and among other groups. Takes a lead technical role over engineers or project subgroups on assigned tasks, communicates complex technical issues, and recommends solutions to a supervisor or project management. Supports engineering function initiatives, including Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design guides, standard computer applications, and administrative practices. Mentors designers and drafters through on-the-job training and supports a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. The role focuses on fire-protection systems in semiconductor, AI datacenter, or life-sciences/pharma settings. It includes independently specifying fire-protection systems and equipment, assessing sprinkler-system options, calculating fire-water demand and hydraulics, and determining pipe-header sizes. The professional applies relevant NFPA, FM, and other mechanical-system codes and standards; supports testing and regulatory compliance; coordinates approvals; manages engineering subcontracts; and troubleshoots issues in field or job-site settings.
