The successful candidate will report to the Assistant Fire Chief of Support. This role supports the technical, operational, and programmatic elements of fire department operations. The position requires the ability to navigate codes and standards relevant to all aspects of fire department operations. Responsibilities include writing, reviewing, and concurring with technical, operational, safety, and training-related documents and programs concerning the fire department, fire system operations, and emergency response activities. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as a team member on large projects are essential. The role involves interfacing with various site organizations such as Engineering, Projects, Facility Operations, Training, Procurement, Logistics, and Compliance. The position may involve serving in a support functional role in the Tactical Operations Center or Emergency Operations Center. Additionally, the role may qualify and perform duties as a coordinator/instructor, health and wellness coordinator, safety officer, or logistics manager during training or unplanned events. The role involves preparing schedules, assigning firefighters, and conducting follow-up reviews to ensure compliance with work directives and proper fire protection and emergency response procedures. It may also involve organizing and supervising fire suppression, emergency medical services, and hazardous materials emergency response activities. The position develops and implements fire protection programs and procedures to prevent personnel injury and property damage from fire and explosion, and implements programs to ensure employee and facility safety in accordance with OSHA, NFPA, and Life Safety Code requirements. The role may determine work assignments, set priorities, and coordinate personnel activities within the fire department or supervise shift personnel. As a team member or independently, the role assesses and evaluates current fire department procedures and documents for accuracy and compliance with acceptable standards. Management assessments of non-emergency work or emergency response activities are performed to ensure compliance. The role requires the ability to analyze data, prepare and develop accurate, comprehensive, concise reports, and associated documentation.
