About The Position

This role involves assisting with the installation, service, and troubleshooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. The position requires learning and applying knowledge of project drawings, pipe threading and grooving, ladder climbing, blueprint reading, and the use of various job-specific equipment. The helper will also be responsible for maintaining a clean work area and adhering to safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Basic Math and Reading skills.
  • Minimum education of High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Ability to travel out of city and state.
  • Active Driver's License and Background Check required.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license and good driving record.
  • Self-motivated, Ambitious, Interactive, Communicative, Detail-oriented, and Organized.
  • Demonstrate ability to accurately read measurements from tape or scales.
  • Ability to take direction from upper management.
  • Ability to work overtime, out of town or on-call as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience as a fire sprinkler, fire alarm, or construction-related helper.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and participate in all aspects of the fire sprinkler and fire alarm trade.
  • Assist foreman and/or fitter with installation, service, and troubleshooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems and related equipment for fire alarm installation support.
  • Assist foreman and/or fitter with installation of fire sprinkler or fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
  • Learn and use project drawings to accurately interpret installation requirements and layout.
  • Learn to thread and groove pipe, cut hanger rods, climb ladders, hang pipe, read blueprints, layout, keep work area clean, and use appropriate equipment (tools, lifts, etc.).
  • Complete all training requirements (Safety, Certifications, etc.).
  • Submit accurate timesheets, including job numbers/names, OT and travel pay, on time.
  • Ensure all required documents are complete, accurate, and professional, with required signatures.
  • Manage inventory by reviewing, updating, and approving packing slips submitted timely.
  • Maintain and care for equipment, including trucks, lifts, and tools.
  • Keep jobsites clean and organized.
  • Ensure production efficiency by being aware of budget vs. actual labor hours and communicating proactively with the superintendent.
  • Support and ensure adherence to Company SOPs, including Purchase Orders and Change Orders.
  • Be timely in attendance, communication with supervisor, and paperwork submission.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and respond to feedback for improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain quality control to reduce the need for return trips and warranty work.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally within the department and with internal and external customers.
  • Maintain positive interactions within the team and local office.
  • Actively participate in required team meetings.
