About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Intern for our Arlington, VA office. Our business focuses primarily on providing professional and technical services in the engineering design, code consultation, and construction phase services for a wide variety of clients both in the private sector and public sector. We execute large and complex engineering projects and provide a comprehensive range of professional planning and design, systems engineering and technical assistance, program and construction management, and operations and maintenance services. This position is expected to begin Summer 2027. Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study. The Fire Protection Engineering Intern will work closely with other engineers, executing tasks assigned by the department manager including developing fire suppression designs, fire alarm designs, mass notification system designs and performing life safety code analysis work.

Requirements

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or in another related field
Must have completed at least 1 year of study
Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply
Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship
U.S. Citizenship is required for this position
