About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to be based in Cleveland, Ohio. This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Builds analytical and design skills while assisting with the planning, design, and analysis of fire protection and life safety systems for a variety of facility types. Supports the development of fire alarm, fire sprinkler, clean agent suppression, and special hazard fire protection system designs under the supervision of senior engineers. Prepares fire protection engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports in accordance with applicable codes and standards. Utilizes AutoCAD and/or Revit to support the development of fire protection system layouts and coordination drawings. Participates in field surveys, system assessments, testing, inspections, and construction site visits under the supervision of experienced engineering staff. Coordinates with architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, structural engineers, and other disciplines during design and construction activities. Performs assigned work in accordance with established project budgets and schedules under supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or experience.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA standards and International Building and Fire Codes.
  • Experience in the design of fire sprinkler and/or fire alarm systems.
