About The Position
Lead the design and safety of critical fire protection systems that protect people, property, and mission success. The Fire Protection Engineer serves as a subject matter expert in fire and life safety systems, providing technical leadership in design, inspection, testing, and compliance. This role ensures adherence to codes and standards while supporting facility and project teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering (Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, or related discipline).
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection Engineering.
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant engineering experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of fire alarm and fire suppression system experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen
Nice To Haves
- Hospital or healthcare life safety code experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
Responsibilities
- Design and evaluate fire protection systems (alarm, detection, sprinkler, suppression, fire pumps)
- Perform hydraulic calculations, system layouts, and equipment selection
- Review A/E and contractor drawings for compliance with codes and NFPA standards
- Conduct inspections, testing, fire hazard analyses, and field surveys
- Develop life safety plans and fire safety programs
- Prepare technical reports and recommend corrective actions
- Provide guidance to project teams, contractors, and regulatory authorities
- Support performance-based design using fire modeling and egress analysis
- Deliver training and support system installation, maintenance, and upgrades
