Fire Protection Engineer
About The Position
Apogee Consulting, a full-service Architecture and Engineering firm specializing in healthcare design, is seeking a highly motivated and talented Fire Protection/Mechanical Engineer. Founded in 1999, Apogee has evolved from an electrical design firm to a comprehensive practice with a presence across 47 states. This role is critical for researching, developing, and producing mechanical construction drawings, applying expertise in industry concepts, practices, and procedures, with potential consultation on complex projects. Requirements
- Healthcare Experience is required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- 8+ years as a licensed professional engineer
- Revit, Auto CAD, MEP, MS Office Suite, Trace 3D
- Current PE License (required)
- NCEES Registration
- Licensed in at least one U.S. state
- U.S. citizenship is required
Nice To Haves
- Certified Plumbing Designer (Preferred)
- LEED, Green Globes, or other sustainability credentials (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Design fire protection and plumbing systems (e.g., sprinkler layouts, fire pump sizing, piping, sanitary, medical gas, domestic water heating, ductwork).
- Perform system calculations, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, and equipment selections.
- Develop construction documents and job-specific specifications.
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction inspections.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
- Serve as Engineer of Record and mentor junior staff.
- Ensure compliance with codes such as NFPA, ASHRAE, and IBC.
- High proficiency in computer-aided design tools and software.
