Fire Protection Engineer
About The Position
Jensen Hughes is hiring a Fire Protection Engineer to work on an ongoing project at a large semiconductor facility in North Phoenix. The role covers a range of fire protection engineering work, including building code consulting, fire protection systems, and fire protection strategies, with a particular focus on Building Code and Fire Code consulting. The engineer will coordinate and conduct building plan reviews, interpret building codes, develop alternative solutions, prepare building design reports, and coordinate with fire protection engineering design teams. The role also involves reviewing and implementing fire protection strategies and coordinating with design teams and authorities having jurisdiction.
Requirements
- Experience in code consulting and developing performance-based strategies in a project design environment.
- Experience developing building code concepts and equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews, and conducting field reviews/inspections.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies.
- Ability to work well independently and interact with other industry professionals, associated trades, and jurisdictional authorities.
Responsibilities
- Perform fire and life safety code consulting tasks related to Group H-5 semiconductor facilities.
- Assist with the development of alternate methods of design and/or code modification submittals.
- Assist with hazardous materials consulting activities.
- Perform site surveys.
- Assist with fire and life safety system inspection and testing activities.
- Coordinate closely with design teams and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Contribute to complex, high-impact project delivery.
- Coordinate and conduct building plan reviews, interpret building codes, develop alternative solutions, and prepare building design reports.
- Review and implement fire protection strategies.
