About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Fire Protection Engineer to join our team of professionals. This role will support the Fire Protection Department in providing clients with services such as automatic suppression system design, fire detection, alarm and mass notification system design, code analysis, egress analysis, fire resistant construction analysis, smoke control analysis, and general fire protection and life safety concepts and research.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering from accredited college or university
• Fire Protection specific degree is required
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Computer skills necessary for daily activities, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, simple graphics, and a working knowledge of computer aided drafting

Nice To Haves

• Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
• Experience with the current version of AutoCAD and Revit

Responsibilities

• Support the Fire Protection Department in providing clients with automatic suppression system design.
• Support the Fire Protection Department in providing clients with fire detection, alarm and mass notification system design.
• Support the Fire Protection Department in providing clients with code analysis.
• Support the Fire Protection Department in providing clients with egress analysis.
• Support the Fire Protection Department in providing clients with fire resistant construction analysis.
• Support the Fire Protection Department in providing clients with smoke control analysis.
• Support the Fire Protection Department in providing clients with general fire protection and life safety concepts and research.
• Manage day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients while utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations.
• Perform research and document for internal and external distribution.
• Analyze existing fire protection systems.
• Design new fire protection systems including suppression systems, fire detection, fire alarm and mass notification systems.
• Perform building and fire code analysis and interpretation.
