About The Position

CACI is seeking a Part-Time Fire Protection Engineer to join their team on-site in Bethesda. This role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in fire protection engineering, specifically with experience in Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy construction projects. The expected hours for this role will vary between 10-20 hours per week, with the potential to increase based on customer needs and the selected candidate's skillset.

Requirements

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection.
  • Degree in Fire Protection Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering.
  • Strong understanding of fire protection codes and standards, including OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic modeling software (e.g., Hydraflow, FlowMaster).
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the Navy or supporting Navy infrastructure and buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Analysis: Develop and review fire protection system designs in accordance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G. Perform hydraulic calculations and analyses for fire protection systems.
  • Compliance and Codes: Ensure all designs and installations comply with OPNAVINST 11320.23G, NFPA standards, and other relevant fire protection codes. Stay updated on changes in fire protection regulations and codes.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with project teams to integrate fire protection systems into overall project plans for Navy infrastructure and buildings. Provide technical support and guidance during the installation and commissioning phases.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and drawings in compliance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G. Maintain accurate records of all fire protection system designs and modifications.
  • Consultation: Offer expert advice on fire protection strategies and solutions to internal and external stakeholders, including Navy personnel.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs for Navy personnel on fire safety and protection in accordance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G.
