About The Position

Constellation is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join their team. This role involves performing advanced technical/engineering problem-solving in support of nuclear plant operations, acting as a resource and technical expert to engineers, and being responsible for technical decisions. The ideal candidate will possess excellent knowledge in their functional discipline, its practical application, and detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations. This Engineering role can be filled at the Entry, Mid-level, or Senior Engineer level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical or Nuclear)
  • Maintain minimum access requirements or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties
  • For Mid-level: 2 years of nuclear or related engineering experience
  • For Senior: 5 years of nuclear experience or related engineering experience

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer Registration
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering programs, system ownership, or fire protection related functions.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes, NRC regulatory requirements, and nuclear safety processes.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the Fire Protection Program in accordance with regulatory requirements, fleet procedures, and NFPA standards.
  • Provide technical leadership, support regulatory inspections, and maintain program health.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, maintenance, corporate fire protection, and external oversight bodies.
  • Prepare regular Program Health Reports/KPIs for Fire Protection and FLEX.
  • Maintain and update program documentation, including FPR, Safe Shutdown Analysis, and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and commitments.
  • Perform engineering evaluations, calculations, and reviews on fire barriers, detection, suppression, and safe-shutdown features.
  • Review and approve design changes affecting fire protection systems or licensing basis.
  • Lead or support Fire Protection Inspections (NRC, NEIL, NOS), self-assessments, OPEX/IR reviews, and audits.
  • Support fire protection issue evaluation and CAP investigations.
  • Participate in peer calls and industry committees (INPO, NEI, NFPA).
