Fire Protection Engineer Lead, R&D
About The Position
Fluidstack is seeking a Lead Fire Protection Engineer for their R&D team. This role will be responsible for leading fire protection engineering efforts, including detection, suppression, and life safety for modular data centers and BTM plants. The engineer will own the fire protection reference design, ensuring systems are selected, coded, and standardized across novel occupancies. A key aspect of the role involves driving AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) strategy to get first-of-a-kind designs approved without redesign. The position also entails setting the technical bar and growing the fire protection discipline as the company's portfolio scales. Fluidstack is focused on delivering large-scale compute infrastructure for AI, emphasizing speed and scale. Requirements
- Led fire protection engineering for industrial, mission-critical, or energy facilities.
- Successfully gotten unusual designs through AHJs by engineering, not arguing.
- Knowledge of NFPA 13, 72, 75, 855, and other relevant codes.
- Experience evaluating suppression trade-offs for high-value electronics and energy systems.
- Experience building fire protection standards for others to design to.
Nice To Haves
- PE in fire protection.
- Performance-based design experience.
- BESS fire protection experience.
- Liquid-cooled environment protection experience.
