About The Position

Johnson Controls is hiring a Fire Inspector to test and inspect fire alarm systems for existing and new customers. The role involves documenting work, following company safety procedures and instructions, and performing duties professionally while maintaining a clean and safe work area. The inspector may need to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer needs and perform physically demanding work, including carrying equipment and working at heights or in difficult positions. The listed hourly hiring range is $18.00–$25.00. The rate is determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and market data. Requirements

Installation or service experience testing and inspecting fire alarm equipment.
Ability to work with little or no supervision.
Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly.
Ability to perform physical labor.
Excellent communication skills.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Ability to work well with others.
Obtain NICET I within one year of employment.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and smartphone skills.

Responsibilities

Test and inspect fire alarm systems for existing and new customers.
Maintain proper documentation for work performed using the tools provided.
Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
Follow verbal and written instructions.
Carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 70 pounds.
Perform work in unusual or difficult positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high-lift equipment.
Work alternative shifts or weekends as needed to meet customer needs.
Perform duties safely and professionally, and maintain a clean and safe work area.
