About The Position

1st FP Companies, LLC is seeking a Fire Extinguisher/Suppression Technician for their San Antonio office. This role involves the inspection, servicing, maintenance, repair, and installation of portable and fixed fire extinguishing equipment in commercial and industrial buildings. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Requires the ability to communicate with co-workers and customers as needed.
  • Requires the ability to perform routine to moderately complex inspections, service, and repair of fire extinguishing equipment.
  • Requires the ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to work on ladders or in tight spaces.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Fire Extinguisher License (FEL) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and complex maintenance and repairs on various fire suppression equipment, e.g., fire extinguishers, kitchen suppression systems, fire hoses, etc.
  • Perform service on portable fire extinguishers when needed, such as recharge, 6-year service, hydrostatic testing cylinders, and replacing parts.
  • Inspects and repairs kitchen suppression systems.
  • Cleans and recharges extinguishers with materials such as patented solutions.
  • Tests fire extinguishers.
  • Inspects, repairs, and/or replaces fire hoses.
  • Inspects extinguishers for compliance with legal specifications using hand tools and performing hydrostatic tests.
  • Install fire extinguishers in new or renovated facilities.
  • Install fires suppression systems in new or renovated facilities.
  • Monitors inventory and initiates requests for supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Tags fire extinguishing equipment to certify equipment has been properly inspected and operational.
  • Responsible for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Conforms to safety standards as prescribed.
