Fire Detection Inspector
About The Position
Johnson Controls is hiring a Fire Detection Inspector to conduct routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on electrical, sprinkler, or suppression life-safety product lines, including products from competing manufacturers. The inspector will test and inspect fire alarm systems for existing and new customers, document completed work, and follow company safety procedures. The role may involve physical labor, carrying equipment and tools weighing up to 70 pounds, and working in unusual or difficult positions, including on ladders, scaffolding, and high-lift equipment. Alternative shifts or weekend work may be needed to meet customer needs.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of installation or service experience testing and inspecting fire alarm equipment.
- Self-starter able to work with little or no supervision.
- Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to perform physical labor.
- Excellent communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Obtain NICET I within 1 year of employment.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and smartphone skills.
Responsibilities

- Test and inspect fire alarm systems for existing and new customers.
- Maintain proper documentation for work performed using provided tools.
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
- Follow verbal and written instructions.
- Carry or move equipment and tools weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high-lift equipment.
- Work alternative shifts or weekends when needed to meet customer needs.
- Perform duties safely and professionally and maintain a clean and safe work area.
