About The Position

SEACORP has an immediate full-time opening for a recently separated Navy Fire Control Technicians who will provide support as a Test Engineer in Newport, RI. In this position, the candidate will provide system, integration, and operational testing support for SWFTS (3rd Party Targeting, CIS, BYG-1, SONAR, Imaging, Tomahawk, and other Weapon/Combat Systems) programs for all U.S. submarine classes. The work location is Newport, Rhode Island supporting laboratories at NUWC Newport but may include travel to support test events. These events are conducted in developer facilities, onboard submarines both dockside and underway, and at Navy shipyard and shore sites. Please note that this is not a Remote Position and that an Active Secret Security Clearance or higher is required on the date of hire.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • 8 years of direct combat systems and/or military experience with US Navy Submarine Combat Systems including completion of Naval Advanced "C" School in the technical field of experience can be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • 3 years of related experience (with the BS degree), specifically working with submarine combat systems.
  • Must hold U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance or higher is required on the date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with combat system cybersecurity and current cyber workforce certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Providing lab test support evaluating system capabilities meet or exceed stated requirements.
  • Good verbal communication skills are required for attending meetings to provide brief discussions/presentations on test results and findings.
  • Writing clear and concise test reports detailing successful testing completed, issues with performing tests, and problems found.
  • Working with program engineers to review system design requirements and make recommendations for recommended testing based on operational experience.
  • Identifying, investigating and analyzing software and hardware failures to determine root-causes.
  • Developing troubleshooting procedures for problems identified.
  • Generating temporary workarounds for problems while long-term solutions are analyzed, developed and implemented.
  • Performing risk analysis for impact to operational capabilities associated with reported failures.
