About The Position

AGAT Laboratories is currently seeking Fire Assay Technicians to join our growing Mining Division in Calgary, Alberta. This position reports to the Operations Manager. As a Fire Assay Technician, you will be part of a collaborative team responsible for producing accurate, high-quality analytical results in a safe, fast-paced laboratory environment. We are looking for motivated individuals with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. As operational requirements permit, employees may have opportunities to broaden their technical knowledge through hands-on learning and cross-training across multiple areas of the Fire Assay laboratory.

Requirements

  • Previous laboratory, industrial, manufacturing, mining, construction, trades, production, warehouse, or general labour experience is considered an asset.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to consistently lift and carry up to 25 lbs (11 kg) throughout the workday.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), where required.
  • Reliable transportation is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fire assay and related laboratory procedures in accordance with established standard operating procedures, quality requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Prepare, process, and handle geological samples throughout various stages of the analytical process.
  • Operate, inspect, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment as required.
  • Complete quality control checks, production records, and laboratory documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Follow all Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) policies and procedures while reporting any concerns or discrepancies to management.
  • Work collaboratively with Supervisors and team members to meet production schedules and laboratory priorities.
  • Participate in cross training opportunities across multiple areas of the Fire Assay laboratory, as operational requirements permit.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and perform other related duties as assigned.
